Tick Testing

2017-03-29 08:04 AM

866 - The tick does not have to be attached for at least 3 days to spread Lyme! While it certainly increases the chances, it is absolutely NOT necessary!

982 - Wow, scary! Glad they figured out the underlying cause.

Lake Cachuma Half-Full

2017-03-29 08:00 AM

Call me a lake 'half empty' kind of person, but I think it will be way down again really soon. When we have the heavy rains, the lake bed fills up with silt and therefore it is deceptively full, when in reality there is less water than we all believe. Also, because of the wider surface area and less-deep water, it will evaporate faster. At least parts of it should have been dredged when we had the chance. I agree with everyone who is appalled that the City so quickly relaxed the watering restrictions.

ANSWER: March Edness Day 17

2017-03-29 07:30 AM

I recognize these names from many years of reading Edhat and playing March Edness! One of the original goals of the founder of Edhat was to get people to notice all the little things around us in our town. March Edness proves that it is something people enjoy! Please don't ruin the vibe - it's a fun game!
Good job, people!

Flowers at Figueroa

2017-03-29 07:22 AM

Hiked Grass Mountain this past weekend, there are definitely still plenty of poppies at the big bloom at the top! Plan to get to the top in the afternoon so that the poppies will be full open in the sun. Plenty of lupins most of the way up, and a smattering of 6ish other types of wildflowers.

ANSWER: March Edness Day 17

2017-03-29 07:17 AM

31p nah, I don't think so - I've tried that route and it is fruitless. At least a few of these handles I recognize from geocaching websites. Geocaching involves visiting many locations around town as well as paying attention to detail, it's no wonder these people are good at this! It's impressive nonetheless!
