Treating Ed - 03/18/04

Imagine my surprise when I open up this week's Time Magazine and to find this ad on page 21.

Obviously word is getting out that ED needs treatment.

Cross Over - 03/15/04

The church on Foothill & La Cumbre put their cross back on top of their church last week. It looks much sturdier now.  Here is a cool picture I took last December when they were taking the cross off the church. - JT

Sir Topham Hatt - 03/05/04

Every time I see Thomas the Tank Engine with my kids I think of Edhat.  Is Sir Topham Hatt any relation to Ed?

Now that you mention it, there is a family resemblance.  I will have to check with mom. - Ed

Clip Art - 02/23/04

Subscriber PrunEd received the ad on the right from the Friends of Lois Capps. The picture takes up the entire front side of the 8 1/2 x 11 postcard. On the back there is an endorsement for Capps and Carbajal.  You can tell by the smokey flare that the platform obviously isn’t one off of Santa Barbara.

In fact, the image is clip art
- no one knows where it was taken.

We contacted Getty Images. They told us the picture was taken in the North Sea off of Norway. - Ed

Irony - 02/20/04

Subscriber Mud was driving behind a car on Chapala Street with a “Got Brains?” bumper sticker and a personalized license plate that said CRANIUM.  The woman driving the car was swerving over two lanes with a cigarette in her mouth as she tried to find her lighter.

Horses? - 02/12/04

Has anyone noticed this sign by the Rocky Nook Park footbridge? I lived in SB for many years, and I can’t recall ever seeing anyone riding up Mission Canyon Road on a horse.  I did see a wild turkey once, but no one was riding it

3. Egg beater (I think) - Riki

4. It is used to dust flour onto a cake pan.  You put the device into a flour bag, squeeze and it grabs just enough to do the job.  They sell them at Williams Sonoma.  - ScaryGuy

5. We verified that a similar looking thing is on sale at William Sonoma for $9.  The sales guy says he uses his all the time. If you look closely at the picture you will see that the metal coil is continuous from one end to the other.  It could not pick up an egg - Ed

Cars on the road - 02/08/04

Last night we drove back to Santa Barbara from a tournament in San Diego. On the way, I counted the number of cars, SUVs, and trucks that passed us or that we passed.  The trip took about 3 hours.  My final count was 520 Cars, 278 SUVs, and 126 Trucks.
