The big highlight for me last year was talking to the owners of the Tesla Sports Cars. I swear, if I had an extra $80,000 - $100,000. I would buy myself one of those beauties !!! But, I would accept one as a gift too !!

41 years of Earth Day is time to look back and see what they were predicting and what finally happened to those predictions 41 years later. 2005 said there would be 50 million global warming refugees by 2010. Never happened. What else was environmental dire gloom and doom that never played out. What were the documented successes? Time to get past the visioning and down to practicalities before we keep riding this ideological pony to our economic detriment.

410 So are all of the natural disasters that Mother Earth has thrown up not enough for you just because they aren't necessarily due to global warming? How about the earthquakes, (Haiti, Japan, S. America) and Tsunamis? What about all of the rain forest trees being burned down by subsistence farmers? There are tons of refugees in the world, from politics...yes...but also because there's no food where they come from due to drought and climate change. Look at Ethiopia. I think we are worse off and polluting our world more so now than we were 41 years ago. Population is increasing and we can't feed, clothe and shelter everyone on this earth. If Earth Day helps us think about and appreciate the Mother than it's served a purpose.

499, I guess you asking Mother Earth to go on birth control pills, or something? There have been 50 million abortions in the US since Roe v Wade. That is a start. 50 million fewer Americans to worry clothe, feed and shelter. Ooops, forgot about the 30 million immigrants who came in to replace them. Dang - net zero effect. What are you suggesting Mother Earth do for population control because you are right, 8 billion plus, reproducing exponentially and moving into the high-consuming middle class is going to be a global burden. Who has to stop reproducing first? But since 99% of this is happening outside of California and California is already 99% "greener" than any other state in the US, how much more local hand-wringing here do we still need to do. We do need to start drilling local oil. Time to rebalance this green account because it is way over-drawn.

The next revolution after the "freedom" revolution sweeping the ME, has to be the "save our nest" revolution. What is the point in having lots of children, if they are going to be faced with almost unlivable conditions. The Great Barrier Reef could be gone soon, the fish that it harbors decimated, etc, etc. Mankind has to grow up and live within its natural resources means.

Fossil Free by 33. A noble goal, but it's far too late. The climate changes we are seeing now are the result of the fossil fuels which were being burned 100+ years ago. Since then, atmospheric pollution has increased exponentially and the resulting temperature increases will mirror the increases in CO2 (etc etc) output.

What exactly are the "climate changes" we are seeing now. Anecdotes need not apply, or the "consensus" of "scientists". What verifiable impacts can we claim that have changed that are directly linked to "burning fossil fuel" in the last 100 years. What impacts were witnessed on the environment when we burned down forests instead? Where would Yosemite Valley today be had there not been global cycles in warming and cooling going on always on this planet? I think we will survive. And I also think we can all become better stewards of our resources. But I also think it is time to drop all the blame and hysteria that wastes everyone's time, patience and productivity chasing meaningless endpoint at higher and higher costs. Chill all this global warming hype would be the best thing I would like to see about "global warming."
