If you have not been to the Dunes, you owe it to yourself! There is a small parking fee, then you walk out through the back dunes to the beach. It is wild and glorious! Bring water, binocs, a bird book, some snacks, and spend the day. You will not be sorry you made the drive. Stop off in Santa Maria on the way home for some great Mexican food Muy Authentico, at any of the small Mexican Markets deli counters. Fabuloso!
