WHERE IS IT?

Rancho Asoleado
updated: Sep 22, 2010, 10:28 PM

By Dedicated Staff

The open arches shown in yesterday's WWII picture can be found in front of Rancho Asoleado on Nogal Drive, near the bike path. Rancho Asoleado is home to the Ridgewood Farm, where they train hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses.

According to an Internet website, the word Asoleado is Spanish, and is the past participle of "to sun". As in, we have gone sunning at the beach ever since we moved here. According to another website it means, "stupid". Hey, we just report this stuff.

The owner and head trainer of Ridgewood Farms is Betsy Woods who, according to the website, has been associated with Rancho Asoleado since 1983. Her online bio is available here.

There were many guesses in yesterday's contest, but only one guess was correct. The incorrect guesses included Taco Bell, filtration station, Gelson's, 101 overpass, Santa Barbara High, and Pearl Harbor. The correct guess was, "Rancho Asoleado at 250 Nogal Drive" (but you already knew that). We gave the Edhat Dog a chew stick and a pat on the head because her services were not needed, and we awarded the prized t-shirt to mielemai. T-shirts can be picked at Santa Barbara Arts in La Arcada.
