Friday is a good day for donuts. Who makes the best donuts and donut holes in SB?

Actually today is probably a good day NOT to eat donuts if you're going to chow down during the Super Bowl. ;-) "A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips"

May seem like a stupid question here, but why does Eller's Dounuts sell Thai food?

I don't know the name.. I think it just says "Donuts" on the sign - but they're the shop on upper state street, way up past Dutch Garden restaurant ... super fluffy donut and they give you free donut holes with every purchase.

142918, that's another Ellers (I think there's one on Milpas too). Pretty good in my book, though I didn't get my free donut holes last time I went. Disappointing, but my scale tells me it's a good thing.

For the record, the donuts in the photo above did, in fact, come from Spudnuts, which are the best in town (in my humble opinion). Gonna have to take the long way home to try and ride off these extra calories!!

Eller's was awesome years ago, then the owners sold it and the quality went way downhill. The times I have been there and received free donut holes seemed like they were the old donut holes that were no longer sellable, not that great of a freebie. Spudnuts on Carrillo are super yummy, one on State not so much, haven't tried the new Goleta store yet. Does anyone remember the Hostess powdered donuts with the jelly ring inside? Those were yummy and love that each bite had equal jelly since it was whole circle of the donut and not just a giant glob in the center where the donut holes come from.

I agree with 985. DD is sorely lacking in the area. I think I've gotta try Spudnuts. I've been here for 8 years & still have never had them. Ellers is good, but I agree with the "eh" donut holes comment.

West Carrillo Spudnuts is the one to try if you have not yet had them. Secret is potato flour in the dough, great frying process, fresh and delicious with a bit of chewy substance. They are the tiniest bit more nutritious with the potato flour and you can think of them as a microspeck-vegetable if you have to justify your fun food.

Spudnuts is fine for downtown, but Tyler's Donuts in Carp is the best in the county! Tyler's Donuts 1002 Casitas Pass Road, Carpinteria, CA 93013-2109 (805) 566-3814 ? Wish we could get Dunkin Donuts here too...

Tyler's Donuts in carp is SO GOOD. My favorite whenever I'm driving down south. Spudnuts and Anna's bakery are very good as well. If I remember correctly, Anna's sells their donuts at half price just before closing

Best donuts are right out of the fryers. Find out what time, and GO! (set your alarm clock) Oooooh hot jelly donut.....ummmmmm Makes cold donuts seem about as tempting as old hamburgers.

Spudnuts at 3629 State Street is absolutely the best! Their donuts are tasty, their bagels and croissant very generous, the orange juice is fresh squeezed, their breakfast bagels really filling and they also make fabulous Boba beverages. Oh, I can't forget that they make a great cup of coffee.

Another vote for Spudnuts on State St. Very nice people to deal with, and delicious donuts. Now, I'm having a craving. Darn! It's getting pretty strong.
