If you had to pick one spot in town to be the center of town, it would definitely have to be in downtown Santa Barbara, and it would definitely have to be on State Street. And, if you keep going down the road of street metaphors, you would probably pick the center of town cross-street to be Carrillo. It's the off ramp in the middle of Castillo (lower State) and Mission (not downtown). Carrillo is also the only 2-way downtown street from which you can make a legal left turn onto State in the middle of the day.
So, you would think that people on Edhat - tried and true locals - would know a thing or two about what's up in the center of town, particularly if what's up is an Eagle with outspread wings. But, the responses to March Edness yesterday clearly show that many people do not know that there is an eagle on top of the entrance to Montecito Bank and Trust at 1000 State Street.
Maybe someone should tell the folks at the Bank that they don't get much brand recognition on Santa Barbara's Number One website. Perhaps a banner ad would help that. :-)
Once again we ask the audience to fill in the blanks about this overlooked bird. Subscribers?
