Padaro is reopening soon under the management of the founders of The Habit. However as part of their extensive remodel the play area has been removed.

If you don't mind a bit of sand, the outdoor patio at Shoreline restaurant across from SB City College is an option.

I think Goleta beach has a sandwich stand - at least it used to. And a great kid's play area! Or do you mean you want to sit and eat at a restaurant, that has a playground right there?

There was a time kids were actually trained to sit at a dinner table and shut up. Now, apparently, no parent would dare interrupt their perpetual play-time.

172344: "There was a time kids were actually trained to sit at a dinner table and shut up. Now, apparently, no parent would dare interrupt their perpetual play-time." WOW. I guess you have no experience with 2 year olds. Places like the old Padaro Grill serve a vital service to parents with small children who almost never can get out of the house to eat. Part of the reason is insensitive people such as yourself. There's a hundred restaurants in Santa Barbara which are not suitable for small children. Let the parents have one or two.

Thanks 361. You said it! The Shoreline Cafe opens onto the sand and has good food. Taffy's Pizza on de la Vina has a game room, big out door area and great healthy food

COMMENT 172344 Clearly has no children. COMMENT 172361 is what this string of comments is all about. It's nice to sit and have food and drinks and watch the kids play. Padero was the best for that and I'm so bummed they removed the sand box for kids. Double thumbs down for the new owners.

Padaro Grill under new management (Reichard family) still has the sandbox (467) but has made great changes to both the restaurant and the menu. The prices are reasonable and the food is "off the hook." Very family friendly--keep an eye on the kiddos, as always. Leave the dogs at home.
