Mini Blind Repair
updated: Aug 10, 2011, 2:04 PM
Is there a place in S.B. County that carries parts to repair mini blinds like the old Levolor 1" type? Home Depot & OSH are no help.
The Internet has a few sites, but it's challenging to actually determine the correct part(s), etc. from drawings & poor images.

I think we got some vertical blinds from SB Screen & Shade, so you might call them to check.

If it hasn't closed down like almost everyother shop in SB, there is a blinds and shutters place in the shopping center where Baskin Robbins and Rudy's is. Ontare/State St.

You might be able to find a "wand controller" or wand on the internet. You might even be able to figure out how to replace the heavier cord that raises and lowers them But if you are looking to have the "ladders" replaced, time for new ones! They are really not that expensive. (I manage rental property with tons of mini blinds, I can fix the wands and controllers with salvaged parts, but the rest we just replace and no we rarely charge the tenant)

Just had a shade repaired by SB screen and shade. The cord was broken. Cost was $35. Very reasonable since another company wanted $150 just for S&H!!!!!!!!!!!

You might be able to pick up parts -- probably the blinds but at a really good price -- at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, 6725 Hollister. Check the Web site for hours. www.sbhabitat.org.

Budget Blinds might be able to...it depends on the part and what's broken. You can take the blind to their office and ask. They keep a supply of parts. Sometimes miniblinds are not worth repairing if it a major problem.
