The Steep and Cheap website had a spear that is made to be able to be attached to a broom handle on sale for like 60% off yesterday. Shipping is cheap and fast. I imagine it would fish good.

Blue water hunter. I second that.... Good dudes that know what they are doing. Personally I would start with a hawaiian sling. No halibut or white sea bass around now anyway. Happy hunting =)

Blue Water Hunter right in the harbor is one of the premier spear fishing suppliers in the world! Lots of local knowledge too. Ask for Andy Taylor, the owner, and he'll set you up.

... and don't forget to get a fishing license and a copy of the regs. Might not hurt to ask the store about local restrictions as it is very difficult to find all the applicable regs in the booklet. Good luck!

try tompfannenstiel "at" live "dot" com (I had to write "at" and "dot" instead of the symbols to get this to post) ...he is local, a serious fishing enthusiast, has been in the business a long time and sells a lot of equipment on ebay
