California Heating And Rain Gutters
1405 Harbor View Drive, Suite A
Santa Barbara, CA 93103
(805) 962-0995

They came out the same day we called because our furnace stopped working, tried to fix the problem, ended up installing a new furnace and re-taped some of the ducts under the house, as needed. The price was reasonable, and the service was great -- they did what was promised, and they did it when they promised.

Johnson Heating and Air. Mark Johnson 805-455-7757. We replaced our furnace and then a year later added onto our home. We have a two story so he also added a dual system so we could run it downstairs only if we wanted. Saves on energy costs. He did all the duct work for our new addition too. Last summer he added an A/C onto our home and placed a condenser in our attic. Very professional.

It doesn't get cold enough to warrant a heater in SB. Just ask Ron Wolfe.

I had very good results last year w/ Crocker heating and air. Family owned and all of the workers were knowledgeable. The new heater works great!!!

Beware of Home Furnace. I called them for routine duct cleaning. They told me I had a dangerous gas leak and needed to buy one of their furnaces. I called The Gas Co and the inspector said there was nothing wrong with my furnace.

The DA's office has a file a foot thick on Home Furnace, regarding MANY customer complaints over the years. I would stay far, far away from them. My 85-year-old neighbor was royally screwed by Home Furnace a couple of years ago, despite my suggestion to her that she go somewhere else.

Home Furnace was infuriating. Contrary to their bid they left a gaping hole in the floor after removing the old furnace. They just walked away.

And their obnoxious, greasy-haired front man turned a mild-mannered neighbor into a screaming banshee.

Steer clear of Home Furnace.

Another no on Home Furnace. Many years ago I called them when heater was not working. Home told me I needed a new furnace. I later called Gas Co., who said thermostat just needed new batteries, furnace was fine. Home agreed to refund my money for service call, but I would not trust them: predators.

I would use Mark Johnson, Johnson Heating and Air.

Ralph Murillo and his son, Matt. They own Murillo Refrigeration, Sales and Service. About a year ago, they replaced the furnace on our 1946 house. Did a great job and gave us a fair price, we thought. Also did it in a timely manner. 896-8668.

NO to Home Furnace also. They put a furnace in for me and then later I found out it wasn't to code and they had to come back and fix it ~ they were just being lazy and trying to save costs and time.

Crocker put our furnace and a/c in our house now and they were great.

Jer's Repairs at 964.8546. Jer has done two different units in two of our houses. He does a great job and always responds quickly if you have a question or concern. AND his prices are reasonable.

1) NO to Home Furnace. They installed the *wrong* type of heater [earlier] in a house that I wound up purchasing. I had to pay for a replacement that was *correct.* (Previous owner must have had a 'contract' with Home because they came by when I was away at work and plastered their stickers on equipment that they had not installed !!! Huh? Clueless folks.) 2) Neighbor had a heater that stopped working, called some company, was told that she needed a new heater for $4000. I gave her the name of McCormack Heating and Air. John came out and replaced a part for $400. Her home was about seven years old: John said heaters should last 30 years plus.
(Also, there was a thread on this topic a while back. You can check under referrals on Edhat.)
