Drugs and Stolen Gun Seized From Gang Member

Sheriff's narcotics detectives complete multi-week investigation

Santa Maria - A multi-week narcotics investigation has resulted in the arrest of a documented gang member and the recovery of a stolen firearm in North Santa Barbara County.

At approximately 7:00 am on Tuesday May 22, 2012, Santa Barbara Sheriff's Narcotics and Gang Detectives served a search warrant in the 1700 block of N. Pine St in Santa Maria City.

During the service of the search warrant, detectives located a usable quantity of methamphetamine along with a loaded .357 revolver handgun. It has been determined that the gun was stolen out of the city of Santa Maria in March, 2012.

Detectives arrested 19-year old Roman Valdez, a documented gang member, for multiple firearms, narcotics and gang charges. He was booked into the Lompoc Jail on $100,000 bail.
