Caltrans will grind and pave U.S. 101 in both directions from Milpas Street to Olive Mill Road on
Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21 during the overnight hours from 8:30 pm to 6 am. This
work will include smooth grinding of recently paved Hwy. 101. One lane will remain open in each
direction at all times.
This grinding and paving operation will complete the $51 million 101/ Milpas to Hot Springs Project
which began in 2008. It includes a third southbound lane on Highway 101 between Milpas Street and
Hot Springs Road/Cabrillo Boulevard, and a third northbound lane between Salinas and Milpas streets,
the rebuilding of the Highway 101 Milpas Street overcrossing and a new underpass at Cacique Street.
The contractor for this project was Security Paving, Inc. of Sun Valley, CA.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through Caltrans construction
zones.
