Lake Lopez is about 75 miles north, off 101, in Arroyo Grande. It has camping, swimming, and the mustang water slides. If you want to really go far, try tubing on the American River or Sacramento River off hwy 99. Its north of Sacramento.

Is Zaca Lake still open to the public? It's easy driving distance from SB and has everything a lake should have--trees, nice shoreline, picnic facilities, etc.

Hasta B Shasta!

quite a trek, but awesome lake. 365 miles of shoreline when full. Lots of places to camp and fish too. Hot though, gotta be prepared for that. ...But it IS a dry heat...

Nacimiento, about three hours away. Or rent a boat on casitas and accidently fall in when you are in a secluded cove. I saw two boys jumping off the dock at cachuma. It was down a trail that winds around next to the lake. Not the one west but east. They were having so much fun and were fully aware that were watching.
