8:05AM : A subscriber is amazed at the number of people dining-out when he reads daily of the recession. Anyone care to comment?
6:31AM : John Wiley has some shots from the air of two Santa Barbara landmarks in flux, the County Bowl and El Encanto. [pics]

"What a dreadful experience, 62823. This is just horrific. It is depressing, too. I'll never go to State Street again, and will advise everyone I know not to, either; I will tell them your story. It's great of you to share. God bless you with healing vibes sent your way. How sad that people like this congregate here."
"Let's not be so harsh. If b-f is wasting his hard earned cash on things she is never going to use, then they're both better off if she gives a few good hints. Or makes a list. I always heard that communication is good for a relationship. Same goes for the hyper lab :)"
"Transition House, Casa Esperanza, and the Rescue Mission are NOT "safe houses." Battered women need an undisclosed location with extra security where they are safe from the perpetrator- who often comes looking for her when she leaves. (Correction- my mistake, I am the original poster- they are sending women to Santa Maria and Lompoc not Oxnard)"
"Feeling remorse for their inhumane/inhuman actions is not a defense! They get no credit for feeling bad about what they did. Lock em up, lose the key."
"If I understand it correctly, the National Labor Relations Board ruled the reporters were filed illegally for trying to form a union. Wendy McCaw went to court to overturn the ruling. The NLRB, in the meantime, tried to get a court injunction to let the reporters return to work while the matter was being litigated. Mrs. McCaw won a ruling against the injunction. The NLRB is now trying to appeal that ruling against the injunction. The fact that she fired the reporters illegally still stands as a ruling by the NLRB."
"Have you ever tried to file a report? They act like you are the criminal. Just to get a case number is a lot of work!"
